Support Opportunities

Organization such as Sioux Empire Safety Village are only able to make a difference when interested people support them. We believe that we have had impact already with our programs and are always looking for those individuals or companies who are interested in leaving the place a lttle safer than they found it. If you are interested in becoming part of our support network please select the highlighted areas below. We would be happy to talk to you about how we can work together to reduce the number of unintentional injuries.

We have many "Major Gift Givers" who have supported us with over $10,000 dollars. Some of these give close to this much each year. For these major gift givers, we are truely grateful. Thes peopel make it possible for new exhibits to be brought on line and they sustain us through even rugh financial times.

We have others who are very interested in one certain injury issue and have become "Primary Sponsors" of events or have become primary sponsors for our permanent exhibits. Most of these organizations also support us with volunteers such as during the fair when tens of thousands of people walk by our exhibits. These exhibit sponsors pay  all the utilities, maintanence and upkeep for the exhibits.

There are two additional groups who have been at the foundation of our supporters.

Dozens of people and business's have contributed their time / treasure and talents to the Sioux Empire Safety Village. When there is a bit extra weeding to be done, they are right there to make sure things are done. When a flat of flowers need to go in around the exhibits to brighten up a place, it is these people who have the dirt under thier fingernails. A number of commercial and residential contractors have given time and talent to make sure that small construction type projects are completed at or below budget. We couldn't exist without these "In-Kind Contributors".

Many  of our "Contributors" are part of our annual giving efforts to raise needed funds for the operational budget that comes with having a non-profit. Our goal is to have 1000 people or business's giving $100 per month which will cover all our operating budget including program development and delivery plus help us put away a bit for those next building projects as we work to build a safer community not only in Sioux Falls but across the region, nation and world.

Sioux Empire Safety Village was first conceived in 1998 after a visit to the National Fire Academy included a field trip to the Childrens Village project in Hagerstown Maryland.  Seeing an operational, Safety Center designed to teach injury prevention to children, led us to write a concept paper which was shared with a number of Sioux Falls business people. All thought it was a good idea so a board of directors was formed, 501-C-3 status was obtained from the Internal Revenue Service and, over a number of years projects began to come into being.

The Sioux Empire Safety Village is located on the WH Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls South Dakota and has both premanent and temporary exhibits and special events on the fairgrounds.

Our planned growth shows that in the next five years we will either completely move off the fairgrounds to our own property or build a number of other exhibits onto the property to help the public understand that injuries are not "accidents" and most of the time can be avoided through education, proper engineering and sometimes through enforcement programs.

A short list of our projects to date include:

Power of Fire- Fire Safety In Multiple Languages

Safe House- Home Injury Prevention in Multiple Languages

Driving Simulators for Immigrants and Refugees

Distracted and Impaired Driver Simulators for Youthful Drivers

Each of these projects and many others that are collaborative in nature with other organizations are further explained on our presentation page.
